Remote FactoryTalk Linx Gateway is a communications server that provides remote, standards-based access to real-time data from plant-floor controllers and devices. It aggregates connections to control systems and exposes them to SCADA, HMI, historians, MES, and analytics clients via OPC UA/OPC DA (and legacy DDE), allowing applications to browse, read, and write tags securely over the network. By centralizing communications, it reduces the need to install device drivers on each client, minimizes network load from duplicate polling, and simplifies routing through firewalls. The gateway offers tag browsing, diagnostics, and role-based access controls, helping teams deploy remote monitoring, data collection, and integration projects more quickly and reliably. It is commonly used in Logix-based environments over EtherNet/IP while enabling standards-based connectivity across subnets and remote sites.
